Now, however, chartplotter-compatible bathymetry CMOR Mapping maps reveal these locations for the first time. With resolution up to 1 meter (each pixel represents one square meter of background) and coverage of the entire background, you see every bump in remarkable detail. Just as important, yousee areas of featureless underwater desert, where you don't need to spend your time searching.

Most fishing maps and charts that show depth contours interpolate these lines from historical survey data. In other words, contours are drawn by looking at the depth measured at a number of points and then making educated guesses about what the bottom will look like between those points. In many cases, the results are quite accurate. But isolated features (a 5-foot ledge between two surveys a quarter mile apart, for example) are easily missed.

In contrast, CMOR mapping data are the result of methodical surveys with high resolution echo sounders. There are no interpolations, no guesswork, and no unverified "hot spots" reported by local captains. Everything you see is a complete, accurate and highly detailed representatione of the bottom, including many features not shown on any other chart or fishing chart.
