Pitot tube speedometers work by squeezing water into the pitot tube pressure. Then, the pressure is transmitted through the flexible tube to the movement of the Bourdon tube inside the speedometer head, and is converted into speed reading by the movement mechanism. If your boat's odometer shows an inaccurate speed or shows no speed at all, the problem is usually with the pitot tube. Replace old or warning pitot tubes with Faria Universal Pitot Tubes.
