All Platinum Series gauges feature Faria's revolutionary anti-fog domed glass lenses. condensation and resist scratching and other types of fouling common in the marine environment. A temperature gauge works by sending a low amperage current through the meter to ground via a sending unit to variable resistance. The resistance of the sending units increases or decreases with changes in pressure, temperature, etc.

As the resistance of the sender varies, the amount of current allowed. to cross it until the earth changes and the meter deviates, displaying the temperature.
