The Faria Beede Professional Red model features a perimeter illuminated black dial with stylish red and white graphics. white, a black aluminum bezel and a white teardrop. flat glass pointer and lens. 

The fuel level gauge operates by sending a low amperage current through the gauge's meter to ground via a variable resistor sending unit. The resistance of the sending units increases or decreases depending on the changes. pressure, temperature, etc...

As the resistance of the emitter varies, the amount of current allowed to flow through it to ground changes and the meter deviates, indicating the fuel level.
