iAIS Wireless Receiver

The world's first wireless AIS receiver that connects wirelessly to the latest iPhone, iPad and iTouch devices. Consisting of a high-performance dual-channel AIS receiver, an integrated 802.11b+g wireless access point and a free app downloadable from the Apple App Store, the iAIS brings AIS data to a all new generation of mobile devices.

iAIS also multiplexes all other NMEA data available on board the boat - for example GPS, depth, speed and wind etc. All of this data is combined with AIS data into a single wireless stream, which becomes available on any compatible app. By using the boat's GPS, even an iTouch or iPad without internal GPS can now be used for navigation. Superior performance will also beally visible on an iPhone, which some users have complained about because it suffers from jitter or poor locking. This is internal GPS.

In addition to sending data wirelessly, the iAIS also has an NMEA0183 and USB interface so you can send data to a PC (via USB) and a plotter dedicated (via NMEA) for larger installations.

The free iAIS app is available on the App Store and is a simple AIS display program. For more advanced use, Digital Yacht recommends the iNavX application (www.inavx.com). Compatible with Navionic charts, iNavX provides a comprehensive set of navigation features that turn your Apple device into a complete electronic chart plotter. It supports waypoints, routes and tide data and is extremely simple to use. It even overlays GRIB weather data. iNAVx sells and supports this application directly.
