A secondary battery is becoming more and more common. As a second battery can prevent the main battery from running out and being unable to start, this seems to be a safe and reliable solution.
The second battery, however, also needs to be charged regularly. The Charge Mate series connects the two batteries during charging and keeps them isolated during discharge.
The Charge Mate 1202 and 2502 are particularly convenient for small systems.
