Feed this diet to young birds after their first molt and until they reach breeding age. This diet must also beadministered to birds that are not raised for breeding purposes. Anytime a bird is not breeding or raising young for periods of more than a month, it should be fed the Mazuri Parrot maintenance diet. Storage Conditions For best results, make sure the seal of the poly bag is completely closed during storage, or store the contents of the opened paper bag in a container with a tight-fitting lid. Polybag diets are packaged in containers sealed under nitrogen to guarantee optimal freshness. Store in a cool (75 F or lower) and dry (approximately 50% RH) place. Freezing will not harm food and can prolong freshness. Use within one year of making the bag. Transition Guide expand/collapse To transition birds from seed (or whatever diet they are currently receiving) to Mazuri Parrot Maintenance Diet, perform a changegradual feeding, starting with 90% seed (from the current diet) and 10% from the Mazuri parrot maintenance diet. Each subsequent day, reduce the amount of seeds by 10% while increasing the amount of Mazuri Parrot Maintenance Diet by 10%. On the 10th day, the diet should consist only of the Mazuri parrot maintenance diet. Monitor bird weight and behavior carefully during the conversion period. Pay particular attention from the 10th to the 12th day. If the bird loses weight, or if the bird does not consume the product, offer it a mixture of 50% seed and 50% Mazuri Parrot Maintenance Diet and restart the conversion process from that point . If the bird does not eat, the color of the droppings will turn dark green and their volume will decrease. If the bird consumes the Mazuri parrot maintenance diet, the droppings will be brownish green in color.
