Herbivorous reptiles consume 1–4% of their body weight per day, although food intake varies depending on environmental temperature, activity, and life scene. The diet can be fed dry, soaked, or mixed with green vegetables and/or salad. Turtles transition to Mazuri Tortoise LS at 1 year of age or when capable of eating larger particle sizes. Appropriate complementary foods should be provided to your reptile. Always provide quality forage such as fresh hay or browse. Produce should consist primarily of leafy greens, with high-sugar fruits and vegetables limited to 5% or less of the total diet to minimize upset to the gastrointestinal tract. Offer low-oxalate vegetables and greens like kale, turnip greens and squash. Wash carefullyfeed and/or water bowls carefully and regularly. It is always a good idea to wash your hands thoroughly after feeding and/or handling pets or other animals. Not intended for human consumption. IMPORTANT: A feeding program is only as effective as the management practices followed. Proper humidity levels are essential for the health and proper growth of herbivorous reptiles. Always provide reptiles with adequate natural light or a light source that provides sufficient UV radiation between the wavelengths of 280 and 315 nm.
