EACH USE - If the PFD has been submerged, open the shell, unfold the bladder and hang to dry. SEASONALLY If you are not going to use it for an extended period of time, remove the cylinder, making sure not to break the black plastic bayonet on the cylinder. Tuck the JERK label inside so it can't accidentally inflate if it gets caught on something, but be sure to detach it before use.
EVERY YEARS: Inspect the shell and straps to detect any tears or fraying. Open the air bladder and inspect it visually. Check the C bottleO2 for corrosion and make sure the black plastic bayonet is not broken. Make sure the inflation mechanism is working and the Jerk Tab chain is not frayed. Inflate the bladder orally using the red tube and make sure it will hold air for one hour.
