PP4900-04 Pre-Cut PowerPod for Garmin echoMAP™ 92sv/93sv/94sv/95sv - Carbon BlackPP4900 series, PowerPods for power, are a better option than mounting on support. PowerPods offer a sleek look for flush mounting with the benefit of a swivel base.
The trunnion mount that comes with most electronic devices is not optimal. PowerPods have the advantage of protecting the back of the electronics from salt water spray. Most manufacturers do an excellent job of protecting the screen face from water intrusion with sealed rubber push buttons. The back is generally not waterproof. They expect you to slot it into the console or a NavPod. The PowerPod also protects plastic connectors and wires from deterioration caused by prolonged UV exposure.
PowerPods for Sail are intended to be mounted on a flat surface. Maybeunder the hood or behind the cockpit table, especially on twin wheel boats.
The glossy material
NavThe pods are made with ABS material Custom co-extruded with acrylic cap. We use the best UV resistant material that provides a high gloss white finish that matches gel coated fiberglass. Gen3 improvements now include thicker material that improves strength and provides better structural rigidity.
Waterproof seal
All NavPods are made with a double seal system providing an excellent waterproof seal between the front and back of the NavPod for protection of your marine electronics. NavPods are designed to withstand the harshest and wettest offshore sailing conditions. Gen3 improvements include a thicker silicone outer gasket with an improved flush fit. The EPDM internal seal isnow 50% thicker and is not subject to "defined compression" like many rubber compounds. This is important when you need to open the NavPod in the future to service your electronic devices.
Nickel-chrome plated screws
We use all stainless steel brackets, hardware provided with each NavPod. Large round head tamper-proof screws have deeper sockets for the NavPod wrench for better holding power when tightening than previous screws. For Gen3 we provide nickel-chrome plated stainless steel tamper proof screws for added security combined with a little bling!
The manufacturing process
Heavy gauge thermoforming is considered an art since many processes come into play. It all starts with the design and development of tooling. We are fortunate to have experienced in-house design engineers who usesmells CAD programs such as Solidworks, Catia and AutoCad. Surfcam is used to interface with our CNC machining centers to produce quality tools with precision tolerances.
