Opened powder can be refrigerated for up to 3 months or frozen for up to 6 months. This amount will feed a 4 oz. puppy for about 1 day. If possible, all puppies should receive colostrum from their mother for the first few days. Weighing the puppies at first and every 3 days will help determine how much to feed. Bottle-fed puppies should receive 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per 4 ounces (115 g) of body weight every 3 to 4 hours. Meal quantities and frequency vary depending on individual needs. Smaller, weaker puppies may need increased feeding frequency. As puppies grow, meal frequency may decrease and the amount per meal increase. Between 4 and 6 weeks, you can start offering reconstituted PetLac in a shallow bowl for puppies to ride on. Weaned Puppies: Feed 1 teaspoon (2 g) of PetLac Puppy Powder per 5 lbs. (2.2 kg) of body weight mixed daily with regular food. Pregnant and nursing mothers: Give 2 teaspoons (4 g) of PetLac powder per 5 lbs. (2.2 kg) of body weight per day NOTE: Follow the recommended feeding amounts in the instructions listed above to avoid digestive upset caused by overfeeding.
