If water seeps down into the fuel tank, phase separation can occur with the fuel, creating the need to pump out the contaminated fuel. You can place a sock into the spill bucket and within minutes the water will be absorbed into the sponge for easy removal. This sock absorbs 8 gal. per sock. You should allow time for evaporation and you can reuse them again and again.
