Remarkably easy to maintain, they require no dismantling or maintenance tools. The machined aluminum drums feature the same Power Ribs™ that many sailors will recognize from Andersen Stainless Steel Winches, well known for their impressive line grip, smooth control and minimal cable wear.

The exceptional grip provided by Power Ribs™ offers a multitude of benefits: requires fewer wraps around the drum, reduces the charge maintained in the self-tailer and encThe line should slide easily up the drum to avoid twists. The non-abrasive drum surface extends the life of the running rigging and allows for smooth, controlled relief, even under high loads.

No tools required

Complete disassembly and reassembly can be easily carried out without the need for any tools. To remove the drum, pull the spring loaded release latch and a slight counterclockwise rotation will raise the self-tailing arm of the winch. From here the drum can be removed from the center rod of the winch.

When reassembling in reverse order, an audible click confirms positive engagement between the self-tailing arm and the bayonet slots on the center stem. These notches allow the self-tailing arm to be locked in one of eight positions in 45 degree rotational increments.
