Auto Ratchet Block
Now you can enjoy the flexibility of configuring your ratchet blocks to your convenience. Ronstan is the only company to offer a ratchet block with automatic and manual engagement modes*. In automatic mode, the ratchet mechanism engages when a load is applied, but turns off when released. This allows the sheet to flow smoothly and freely, which is ideal for quick release of the sheet and for gybing asymmetrical spinnakers. In manual mode, the ratchet mechanism can be activated or deactivated as needed.This is the mainsheet configuration preferred by the best sailors. Try the block in both modes and see which you prefer - you really can't go wrong.
* Selected 55 Series models.
Superb holding power ratchet blocks
Quite simply, Ronstan Ratchet Orbit Blocks™ have the highest holding power available. The sophisticated CN machined pulley features generation 2 of our patented cross-hole geometry. Its holding power reaches 21:1, almost double that of our closest competitor. The unique pulley design features 12 gripping faces that directly resist the movement of loaded line. Traditional designs have only 8 faces with angular resistance to line movement. Our Generation 2 design features straight resistance faces that distribute the load and minimize cable wear.These faces are offset from the radial line, to pull the rope down into the grip zone when under load.
Simple and secure attachment
The Dyneema Link is easily installed and is held securely by a molded retaining clip. The flexible link can be left with one end attached to the block during assembly – no more lost shackle pins. The system is compatible with Dyneema/Spectra caron webbing, webbing and connection points - much more than steel buckles or shackles. In automatic mode, the sheet flows freely and smoothly as soon as the ratchet mechanism disengages. In manual mode, the pulley's cross hole geometry eliminates the runout you can expect from traditional V-groove ratchet blocks.
Materials:
- Sheave: anodized aluminum
- Ball bearings: high strength carbon black acetalto compression
- Frame/cheeks: tempered nylon reinforced with glass fibers
- Rope tie: SK75 Dyneema impregnated with several strands, UV stabilized
Ronstan Orbit blocks represent the future of racing sailing equipment. As the world's best choice for runners, they offer a no-compromise solution.
