The Ronstan universal bearing incorporates our proven 2-stage bearing system
Stage 1: under moderate loads, acetal ball bearings ensure minimum friction
Step 2 -Under heavy loads, where deformation of the ball bearings alone would cause increased friction, an acetal sliding bearing on a polished stainless steel ring takes over, maintaining low friction performance
In addition, the bearings Ball bearings are configured to act as a stop between the pulley and the cheeks, preventing the pulley from rubbing on the cheeks and causing friction when the thread entering and exiting the block is not perfect. Particularly important for cheek blocks

Alloy cheek plates
Block cheeks are made from the highest quality alloy for strength maximum. Material optimization and cut-out design minimize weight and allow easy fresh water rinsing of salt and debris from bearings. The cheek design has been improved with a flare at the block throat and a reduced gap between the cheek and the pulleye, thus minimizing cable wear.
