Primus 13.5" Black Wheel, 3/4" Tapered Shaft with Knob Handles - Black Powder Coat

Few components on a boat are touched so frequently than its steering wheel. That's why Schmitt & Ongaro Marine designed Primus, its new cast stainless steel steering wheel, to provide maximum all-day ergonomic comfort and engineered it for long-lasting, uncompromising durability. The visually striking wheel complements any bar and comes with a lifetime warranty.

The Primus is manufactured using a unified investment casting, including the integrated ring, for massive resistance. NMMA listed and CE certified, it is so strong that it far exceeds ABYC P-22 and ISO 8848 standards. Polished to a mirror-like finish, 316L stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance and requires a minimal maintenance.

Available in 13.5″ and 15.5″ diameters, the rim is slightly largerthicker than most other wheels. At 1-1/8″, the larger size reduces hand fatigue that is common with slimmer styles.

Black UV-resistant Santoprene™ rubber provides control and comfort through all time, and a spectacular counterpoint to the shiny stainless steel. Below, the handles provide a secure and sturdy grip. It extends to the top of the rim, providing additional gripping surface. The adjoining Santoprene piece also extends slightly below the spoke junction for a soft, ergonomic fit. The result is an attractive wheel that fits any bar decor.

The Primus is available in three spoke configurations: slotted with decorative Santoprene inserts, open or solid. The edges have a slight radius for added comfort, without sacrificing its sharply defined appearance.

The optional stainless steel control knob is large and comfortable. He isinstalled on a spoke, 3/4″ from the edge of the rim, to ensure it will not interfere with the rider's controls or riding space. The installation has no visible protruding fasteners to catch clothing or interfere with the smooth touch experience. Schmitt designed the knob with glass ball bearings to eliminate corrosion and provide free spinning life.

The Primus incorporates the industry standard 3/4″ tapered hub. Durable stainless steel center nut works with all steering systems, with optional styles available.
