The difference between these and the recessed mount that comes with the Brocraft rod holder is that they have a bottom, so no water can enter the hull of your kayak. I prefer the Brocraft rod holder to the Scotty, so I'm glad they mate so well. And Brocraft doesn't seem to sell its recessed mount independently.
