Alternators may be subject to voltage spikes caused by lithium battery shutdowns, intermittent connections and other surge events.  Balmar has introduced a heavy-duty alternator protection module that helps protect the alternator diodes and internal voltage regulator from spikes (clamping up to 60V) and sustained overvoltage conditions (from approx. 20 V for the 12 V version).  The APM can absorb multiple surges of such energy and can absorb surges in excess of 200 amps without risking continually protecting your alternator.  Visual and audible alarms indicate if the device has been compromised and needs to be replaced.

Balmar APM devices provide smart, rugged, solid-state protection in a small, easy-to-mount package. rear of the alternator between the B+ and Terminals B. Balmar APM devices can be used to protect all brands of alternators.  Balmar APM devices comply with ISO 16750-2 for load dump protection and ISO 7637-2 for surge protection.
