Barton D0550 clutch is designed for cruising yachts and racing. Made from modern lightweight materials to withstand the rigors of the marine environment. The molded parts are made of high quality plastics that are strong, lightweight and impact resistant. Cams and bases are marine grade aluminum, "Spectro" anodized for high wear resistance and long life.
True clutch mechanism allows line to be adjusted at through the unit in the closed and locked position with minimal slippage. Release under load is positive and requires little effort. The opening and closing action of the mechanism is precise and easy to use, even with cold, wet hands. A positive locking of the handle in positionone closed is also present.
A unique feature of this design is the removable insert on the upper side of the handle. Take it out and you can easily replace it with wides colored printed inserts to indicate at a glance the function of the unit (i.e. mainsail, genoa, spinnaker, etc.).
The clutch cam and base, made from high quality extruded aluminum, feature a specially hardened tooth design that allows maximum grip with minimal slippage, while being kind to your lines. Stainless steel cable guides are installed at the entry and exit points of the line, this feature prevents wear on the clutch and lines.
The D0550 clutch has the advantage of 'a bolted construction which facilitates maintenance and replacement of parts.
