I Used as an on/off switch for my home solar system, not for use on a boat. It is designed for flexible mounting as sides can be added/removed so your cables can be attached from four different sides. You should know that this thing has huge 3/8" terminals, so keep that in mindsprit when you purchase lugs or cables with pre-installed lubricants. I'm going to have to drill the holes on some of my cables to connect to this switch. Turning power on/off is a little different for DC power than for AC power, which is why if you want to use circuit breakers, you need circuit breakers rated to handle DC current. The spark you get from disconnecting DC power can continue to spark if the contacts are too close together, and it tends to burn out. Contacts. A switch like this is designed for DC use.
