When the rod holder is under extreme load, ordinary nuts and washers can concentrate the stress and cause cracks around your rod holders or possibly even tear, causing serious damage to the gunnel. Smith Backing Plates evenly distribute mounting bolt pressure over an area 30 times greater than standard washers alone. 2 sizes, one for Series 70 and Series 80 rod holders. Each size fits all 3 models in the series.
