The deadly nature of CO means that every boat must be protected by a local alarm. Of course, a typical home alarm could be installed, but this has limitations for onboard use. They use an internal battery that often expires when left for long periods of time – it's all too easy to forget to replace it during seasonal use on a boat. Additionally, a simple local alarm in a cabin with a sleeping crew member and the ship underway with the sound of an engine is unlikely to be effective. Digital Yacht's CO Alert is designed for demanding marine environments and integrates NMEA 2000 so alerts are displayed on the boat's compatible MFD.

CO Alert creates a standard NMEA 2000 alert PGN that allows contextual alarms. on compatible MFDs. (At present, this functionalityity is best implemented by Garmin).

The system can also be further expanded with our general purpose alert and monitoring device NavAlert and our 4GX/5GX internet access systems. With this combination, SMS messages can be generated for a CO alert and sent to a remote phone.
