Electronic speedometers work by capturing pulses produced by a sensor. The pulses are then electronically converted into a speed reading, much like a tachometer converts pulses. ignition in rpm.

Pitot tube type speedometers operate by water pressure forced into the Pitot tube. This pressure is then transmitted through a flexible tube to the movement of the. drone tube inside the speedometer head where it is converted to speed reading by the movement mechanism.
