The trunnion mount that comes with the marine electronics is not optimal. PowerPods have the advantage of protecting the back of the electronics from salt water spray. Most manufacturers do an excellent job of protecting the screen face from water intrusion with sealed rubber push buttons. The back is generally not waterproof. They expect you to slot it into the console or a NavPod. The PowerPod also protects plastic connectors and wires from deterioration caused by prolonged UV exposure.

PowerPods for Sail are perfect for mounting on a flat surface. Maybe under the hood or behind the cockpit table, especiallyier on boats equipped with dual wheels.

The glossy material
NavPods are made with a custom co-extruded ABS material with acrylic cap. We use the best UV resistant material that provides a high gloss white finish that matches gel coated fiberglass. Gen3 improvements now include thicker material that improves strength and provides better structural rigidity.

Waterproof seal
All NavPods are made with a double seal system providing an excellent waterproof seal between the front and back of the NavPod for protection of your marine electronics. NavPods are designed to withstand the harshest and wettest offshore sailing conditions. Gen3 improvements include a thicker silicone outer gasket with an improved flush fit. The internal EPDM seal is now 50% thicker and is not subject to "compressionsion defined" like many rubber compounds. This is important when you need to open the NavPod in the future to service your electronic devices.

Nickel-chrome plated screws
We use all steel mounting hardware stainless steel supplied with each NavPod. Large round head tamper-proof screws have deeper sockets for the NavPod wrench for better holding power when tightening than previous screws. For Gen3 we provide nickel-chrome plated stainless steel tamper proof screws for added security combined with a little bling!

The manufacturing process
Heavy gauge thermoforming is considered an art since many processes come into play. It all starts with the design and development of tooling. We are fortunate to have experienced in-house design engineers using CAD programs such as Solidworks, Catia and AutoCad. Surfcam is used to interface with our CNC machining centers to produce quality tools with precision tolerances. We've redesigned and revamped all the popular NavPods. We looked at all the old products, selected the best design elements from each, and incorporated them into each new Gen3 product.

Compared to rack installation, PowerPods for Power are a better choice. PowerPods have the advantage of a rotating base, which can provide a streamlined appearance for built-in installation.
