The idea behind the Atlantes was to offer a metal handle on the side of the bowl to make the marine bathroom less intimidating for those not used to being on a boat. Today, the Atlantes now incorporates the same Vortex-Vac technology as the Marine Elegance but in a bowl that offers a larger footprint as well as the handle option just like at home. The advantage of Vortex-Vac technology is that waste is efficiently evacuated from the bowl by a vacuum action created by the pump rather than relying on remote vacuum generation. Although a vacuum toilet may use a little less water, the advantage of the Vortex-Vac is that there is no need to rely on the vacuum generator pump which tends to run for around 45 seconds to generate vacuum. The timed flush cycle brings in water, then flushes, then water again and flushes for minimal water consumption ande less effective in evacuating waste from toilets.
