Remarkably easy to maintain, they require no dismantling or maintenance tools. The machined aluminum drums feature the same Power Ribs™ that many sailors will recognize from Andersen Stainless Steel Winches, well known for their impressive line grip, smooth control and minimal cable wear.

Power Ribs™

The exceptional grip provided by Power Ribs™ offers a multitude of benefits: requires fewer wraps around the drum, reduces load retained in the self-tailer andencourages line to slide easily up the drum to avoid kinks. The non-abrasive drum surface extends the life of the running rigging and provides smooth, controlled relief, even under high loads.

No tools required

Complete disassembly and reassembly can be easily carried out without the need for any tools. To remove the drum, pull the spring loaded release latch and a slight counterclockwise rotation will raise the self-tailing arm of the winch. From here the drum can be removed from the center rod of the winch.

When reassembling in reverse order, an audible click confirms positive engagement between the self-tailing arm and the bayonet slots on the center stem. These notches allow the self-tailing arm to be locked in one of eight positions in 45 degree rotational increments.

What is QuickTrim™?

QuickTrim™ allows sailors to conveniently and safely slack line without removing the winch handle nor remove the line from the self-tailer.

A small counterclockwise rotation of the self-tailing cover allows the self-tailer to rotate underneath like a sheave when the rope is relaxed, with grip and control provided by the drum. smooth surface and Power Ribs™.

Letting the top cover back into place locks the self-tailer back into place to resume normal use.
