Suitable substrates are aluminum (bright or anodized), GRP (polyester resin), stainless steel, wood, two-component coatings and plastic glazing (PC, PMMA). Seek advice from the manufacturer and carry out tests on the original substrates before using Sikaflex-295 UV on materials prone to stress cracking. This product is only suitable for experienced professional users. Testing with substrates and real-world conditions should be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.

Product Benefits:

  • Excellent application properties
  • Resistant to aging and weathering
  • Suitable for organic glasses
  • Approved for the OEM market
  • Approved Wheelmark

Surface preparation:

Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil, dust and contaminants. The surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the supports and is crucial for a lasting bond. Surface preparation suggestions can be found in the current edition of the appropriate Sika Pretreatment Chart. Please note that these suggestions are based on experience and should in any case be verified by testing on original media.

Application:

Sikaflex-295 UV can be used between 10°C and 35°C (climate and product) but changes Responsiveness and application properties must be taken into account. The optimum temperature for the substrate and sealant is between 15°C and 25°C.
Remember that viscosity increases at low temperatures. For easy application, condition adhesive at room temperature before use. To ensure uniform thicknessof bonding, it is recommended to apply the adhesive in the form of a triangular bead.

Tooling and finishing

Tooling and finishing must be carried out within the skin time of the product. It is recommended to use Sika Tooling Agent N. Other finishing agents should be tested for suitability and compatibility before use.

Removal

Uncured Sikaflex-295 UV can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika Remover-208 or other suitable solvent. Once hardened, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin should be washed immediately using Sika Cleaner-350H wipes or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin.

Overpainting

Sikaflex-295 UV can be painted before and after the skin has formed. If the painting process takes place afterf the sealant has formed a skin, adhesion can be improved by treating the joint surface with Sika Aktivator-100 or Sika Aktivator-205 before the painting process. If the paint requires a baking process (>80°C), best performance is achieved by first allowing the putty to fully harden. All paints must be tested by carrying out preliminary trials under manufacturing conditions. The elasticity of paints is generally lower than that of putties. This could lead to paint cracking in the joint area.
