Battery Balancer

The battery balancer equalizes the state of charge of two 12V batteries connected in series, or multiple parallel strings of batteries connected in series. When the charging voltage of a 24V battery system increases to above 27V, the battery balancer turns on and compares the voltage across the two batteries connected in series. The battery balancer will draw current of up to 1A from the battery (or batteries connected in parallel) with the highest voltage. The resulting charging current differential will ensure that all batteries converge to the same state of charge.

If necessary, multiple balancers can be put in parallel. A 48V battery bank can be balanced with three battery balancers.
