C.E. Smith Bearing Protector with Cover - 1.985" Trailering

Boat trailer hubs heat up when moving to the ramp. Hot hubs placed in cold water during launch are suddenly cooled, which contracts the air inside the hub, creating a vacuum. The vacuum draws water and road grit inside the hub, contaminating the grease. Contamination causes corrosion and rapid wear. Perfectly good bearings can be destroyed in less than a season. Bearing Protectors corrects this problem by filling the entire hub with grease. Most of the air trapped inside the hub will be expelled by the Bearing Protector's pressure relief function. Once the hub is full, the spring-loaded piston in the bearing protector puts light pressure on the grease inside the hub. Since the pressure inside the hub is slightly higher than the pressure outside the hub, water and gravel cannot be sucked inside.
