Maretron TCS-01 - Telemetry Cloud Service Marine Navigation & Instruments
The Maretron telemetry cloud service uses the vessel's existing internet connection (cellular, Wi-Fi, satellite, etc.) to broadcast vessel information to the Maretron cloud server where the data is stored and then accessed from shore via a computer, smartphone or tablet. Using Maretron's telemetry cloud service allows you to protect your investment with near real-time monitoring of your vessel and manage the operation of your assets, such as scheduling preventative maintenance or optimizing performance, such as fuel consumption.
The type of data transmitted outside the vessel is limited only by the Maretron NMEA 2000 sensors comprising the vessel's onboard monitoring system. This could be as simple as a single GPS antenna/receiver used to track the vessel, or it could include numerous sensors to monitor engines, generators, fuel flow, tank levels, batteries, etc. Selecting which data is monitored and how often it is transmitted to the cloud from the vessel is simple to use using a touchscreen or Maretron black box (TSM800C, TSM1330C or MBB300C). This gives you the flexibility to decide what information is important and how often it is transmitted, while weighing it against your airtime cost. The system has been designed to be extremely efficient at minimizing airtime, and it is also designed to be very robust for situations where Internet connectivity is intermittent or moves through areas of patchy coverage.
Regarding access to cloud data. from land, there are two methods. Firstly, there is a free smartphone/tablet app called N2KTracker, which is a Google map showing your boat's current location and neck trackrs of the last hour. You can set a geo-fence so that if the boat moves outside of the programmed circle radius, you will receive a text message or email notifying you that the vessel is moving. N2KTracker also has a dashboard feature where you can select all data stored in the cloud to view.
For more detailed analysis of data stored in the cloud, Maretron offers free software on PC called N2KExtractor. N2KExtractor displays the vessel and plots it on a map for the selected time period, and also allows you to graph up to four parameters while correlating the data with the vessel's position. Alternatively, N2KExtractor allows any number of user-selected parameters to be extracted for a user-selected time period in the form of a spreadsheet for detailed performance analysis or maintenance. This preventative.
So if you are looking to protect your investment through vessel tracking, or if you want to manage your assets using performance analysis or preventative maintenance, the Maretron telemetry cloud service gives you easy access to the data you need.
