Each batch of Mazuri Softbill Diet is analyzed for iron and the analyzed iron concentration is made available to all customers via the website www.mazuri.com. This diet should be fed at least 70% of their daily intake, with the remainder consisting of fruits, vegetables and enrichment items. For thes species extremely sensitive to iron (i.e. toucans and mynahs), avoid the addition of iron-rich foods (e.g. meat, dog food). The Mazuri ZuLiFe Bird Gel Diet may be an additional option. For other omnivorous bird species, foods with a higher concentration of ferion may be appropriate. Consult your avian veterinarian to determine the iron sensitivity of your species or individual bird. This diet is designed for birds after their first molt and not for growing chicks. Laying females (more than 20 eggs per season) should receive calcium supplementation in the form of pure pharmaceutical grade calcium carbonate (can be mixed with fruit) at 2% of their daily intake during the laying season. only. CAUTION: This product is designed to have a low concentration of dietary iron. There are no readily available sources of iront added as an ingredient to this diet. Transition Guide expand/collapse To transition birds from their current diet to the Mazuri Softbill diet, make a gradual change. Start with 10% of the Mazuri Softbill diet and 90% of their usual diet. Each day, increase the amount of Mazuri Softbill diet by 10% and decrease the amount of regular diet accordingly. During the period oftransition, as well as during the first week after the transition, it is essential that the birds are observed carefully (weight and behavior). If the bird is losing weight or is not consuming the product, offer a 50/50 mix of product and regular diet.
