SeaTalk1 Digital Yacht Interface to NMEA Marine Navigation & Instruments

The SeaTalk interface, originally developed by Autohelm in the early 1990s, was included on almost all Autohelm and Raymarine (and some Raytheon) products until around 2012. As a result, thousands of boats around the world have a SeaTalk 1 network. Many of these owners, for one reason or another, need to convert SeaTalk to NMEA 0183.

The SeaTalk to NMEA converter from Raymarine (E85001) is no longer available. Although some of these instruments/MFDs/autopilots have NMEA0183 interfaces, they do not always convert all data or are located in a location that is difficult to wire.

SeaTalk to NMEA 0183 Converter (ISO) from Digital Yacht is a small but powerful interface that allows bi-directional conversion between a SeaTalk network and an NMEA0183 network or device. The ST-NMEA converter is powered by the SeaTalk network. It has a multitransistor SeaTalk 1 interfacer complete, an opto-isolated NMEA0183 input and a differential NMEA0183 output. Therefore, key navigation data between the SeaTalk and NMEA0183 networks can be shared reliably.

The ST converter -NMEA can also be configured to operate in a special "Raw Data" mode ($STALK) which is getting support in some Open Source projects. Developers and advanced users who want to access raw SeaTalk data can take advantage.

The SeaTalk1 to NMEA 0183 (ISO) converter is ideal for connecting to one of Digital Yacht's wireless NMEA servers , allowing SeaTalk owners to go wireless and a USB version of the ST-NMEA converter is also available for direct connection to a PC or Mac.

SeaTalk1 to NMEA Interface

Digital Yacht's SeaTalk to NMEA Converter (ISO) is a small but powerful interface that pprovides bi-directional conversion between a SeaTalk network and an NMEA 0183 network or device. Drawing power from the SeaTalk network, the ST-NMEA converter features a full multi-transistor SeaTalk 1 interface, NMEA 0183 input and NMEA 0183 output differential that allow key navigation data to be reliably shared between SeaTalk and NMEA0183 networks.

For developers and advanced users who want to access raw SeaTalk data, the ST-NMEA converter can also be configured to operate in a special "raw data" mode ($STALK) which is increasingly supported in some Open Source projects.

The ST-NMEA converter (ISO) is ideal for connecting to one of Digital Yacht's wireless NMEA servers allows SeaTalk owners to go wireless and a USB version of the ST-NMEA converter is also available for direct connection to a PC, Mac or evena Raspberry Pie embedded Linux system.
