NavPods are made with custom co-extruded acrylic coated ABS material. We use the best UV resistant material that provides a high gloss white finish that matches gel coated fiberglass. Gen3 improvements now include thicker material that improves strength and provides better structural rigidity.
The waterproof seal
All NavPods are manufactured with a do systemDouble seal providing excellent sealing between the front and back of the NavPod to protect your marine electronics. NavPods are designed to withstand the harshest and wettest offshore sailing conditions. Gen3 improvements include a thicker silicone outer gasket with an improved flush fit. The internal EPDM gasket is now 50% thicker and is not subject to "set compression" like many rubber compounds. This is important when you need to open the NavPod in the future to service your electronic devices.
Nickel-chrome plated screws
We We use all stainless steel mounting hardware provided with each NavPod. Large round head tamper-proof screws have deeper sockets for the NavPod wrench for better holding power when tightening than previous screws. For Gen3, we provide nickel-c stainless steel tamper-proof screwschrome plated for added safety combined with a little bling!
The manufacturing process
Large caliber thermoforming is considered an art since many processes come into play. It all starts with the design and development of the tooling. We are fortunate to have experienced in-house design engineers who use CAD programs such as Solidworks, Catia and AutoCad. Surfcam is used to interface with our CNC machining centers to produce quality tools with precision tolerances.
